Stories from a Family with Common Need

Jumping = Happy to Be Home

For regular visitors like us, the nurses and doctors joke that leaving the hospital is like getting out on parole. It’s kind of not funny, but in a way, right now, it’s totally true.

After four stays at the hospital in the last nine weeks, it feels so good to be home sweet home. And more than ever, we can tell that Noah appreciates being out of the hospital and home, too.

Sleeping in until eight. Watching soccer with Noah. Tidying up the house. Going for a walk and a coffee all together. And doing a little holiday shopping. All things we struggle to do while living out of the hospital.

We are so grateful to have a “second family” at Children’s.

We are also so grateful to be cozy at home today with the fire, hot water with lemon, and Noah’s jumperoo.

Thank you, thank you, thank you…

for all your prayers and support. A special thanks to those of you who called us, visited us, and provided us with meals. We don’t deserve such generosity. God is so generous to us.

It’s striking to consider how, more than actually creating need, the hospital has just reminded Jess and me of OUR deep need for the Lord and for our community.

I hope and pray we can respond to our neighbors’ needs as well.

    • About

With every drop of concern and worry there are two drops of joy and hope. We are—currently—a family of three: Steve Hardin from the PNW (a son and father with Freeman-Sheldon syndrome), Jessica from Houston (daughter, mother and all-around awesome person), and Noah from Seattle (also born with Freeman-Sheldon syndrome). There are chronicles to write about our past lives to date, but we’ll let this blog tell our story from now on as it continues to unfolds. Read more.
