Logging into his 70's

There are only a few ways for locals to bring in money from the outside world, only a few legal ways that is.  Recently the locals have been logging in the general vicinity of our airstrip.  Carolina’s Grandfather, Facundo was riding on the logs the other day below the airstrip.  He has a couple of horses that he uses to position logs for loading onto the old logging trucks.  The steep terrain that they work on reminds me of that scene from “The Man from Snowy River” where the father is killed by a log that breaks loose.  I’ll have to dig through some photos from last fall and post them as well…

Because he is working in our general vicinity Facundo stayed with us for a couple of weeks.  One night he was sleeping out in the greenhouse, until we arrived home and invited him into the house!  His wife died 3 years ago, which was one of the main reasons that Carolina came to be with us.  She seems to enjoy seeing him, when he is here, and Delia makes sure that Carolina serves him his tortillas personally.
